The New York Jets have one man and only one to be grateful for their wild card victory against the highly favored San Diego Chargers. Doug Brien, who nailed six of seven field goals to guide the Jets in victory against the Chargers on the field at Qualcomm Stadium.

San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson began his run with a bang in the opening quarter running for 40 yards , and making the Jets defense look ridiculous as they tried to stop him. Jets director of football Herman Edwards must have made adjustments following the first quarter, as LT was quiet throughout the game and finished with just five yards. The remainder of the Charger offense, in addition to securing one major touchdown connection among Drew Brees and Antonio Gates and Antonio Gates, was plagued by mistakes in the first half as well as inefficiency throughout the second. The Charger defense also had its fair share of mishaps too and particularly during the third quarter where a touchdown-fumble return from the San Diego's Sammy Davis was reversed upon review by game officials.
